About the Cottage
Townfoot Cottage is a stone-built two bedroom home, which sleeps up to five people. On the edge of the small village of Elsdon, it was originally an old farm cow byre. My parents did a wonderful renovation, with the help of a neighbour who was a stonemason, and my uncle, a carpenter, not to mention lots of friends in the village. So it was definitely a community effort!
The cottage is dog-friendly with a secure enclosed garden at the back. This has lawn and a seating area to enjoy, especially in the summer when it’s a sun-trap in the afternoons and eating outdoors is a lovely option.

Around Elsdon
Elsdon, which has been described as the 'perfect Northumbrian village' is situated in the middle of the Northumberland National Park. The friendly village pub, the Bird in Bush, is open most days and is a five minute stroll from the cottage
There is lovely walking from the cottage doorstep and many cycle routes and mountain biking trails in the area. The cottage makes the perfect base for exploring the area, from the huge reservoir and forest at Kielder, the chain of forts along Hadrian's Wall, the hills of Simonside and of course the spectacular Northumberland coast.
